A Look Back at Israel

Wednesday, April 08, 2015

Though we've already wrapped up this leg of our trip, we thought we'd share some of the highs (and lows) of our time in Israel...

  Kibbutz Breakfast
On the day we shot the Easter message in Jerusalem for our church family, we were able get a good traditional “Israeli Breakfast” called Kibbutz. This breakfast is a combination of many different cultural foods. It originated when many different Jewish people came back to Israel to work in the fields. They would all eat in a communal dining room, where different foods were represented.

Mount of Olives Shoot Location
Our friend and producer, Mati, brought us to this little walkway on the Mount of Olives. With the sun shining and the wind blowing through the tall grass and olive trees, it was a breathtaking landscape.

Easter Message Filming
It was both rainy and windy when we were recording, but thankfully we were able to find a little spot that was protected from the weather. After a couple starts and stops due to rain, we were able to get the message filmed.

Travel from Israel
Security was great coming into Israel--leaving, however, was another story. Our carry-ons got stuck in security for almost an hour. Trent had to completely unpack his bags full of camera equipment not just once, but twice before we were cleared for the flight. Our bags did finally get through security, but we ended up missing our connecting flight in Istanbul.

Missed Connection
We flew out of Tel Aviv and arrived for our connection in Istanbul just in time to see the gate for our next flight close.

Late Night Munchies
Nothing like a little Burger King after a Kosher trip to the Holy Land. We happily obliged.

Amsterdam
The shortest distance from Istanbul to Southeast Asia is not through Amsterdam. Needless to say, our new flight schedule took us a little out of the way.

We would love your continued prayers as we move forward in this mission. There's much more to come, so stay tuned.
