On to Nepal...
We’ve arrived in Nepal and God has protected and sustained our team. When we hit the ground, we started our visit to Kathmandu visiting the homes of believers to encourage them and hear of their testimonies. One house in particular made a huge impact among our team. We stopped into a women’s house who has attended Harvest Kathmandu for 3 years. We walked some distance just to get to her simple house. She came to faith in Christ at Harvest during a series that Pastor Timothy was preaching from Matthew’s Gospel. She had been invited by a neighbor and came seeking answers and relief to her suffering. Little did she know that would be the day that God would open her eyes to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Her husband had left Nepal in search of a job and left her with three children to work in the fields and keep the home. She was filled with hopelessness and despair, but everything changed when she heard God’s Word proclaimed at Harvest and she placed her faith in Christ.
We sat in her little mud and stick home while she explained how her life has completely changed. Her life is now filled with hope and joy in Christ. She was smiling from ear to ear explaining how Christ has filled her once empty heart and replaced her sorrow with joy and belief. Her children gathered around all of us, and we sang songs and prayed. She gave nearly all she had to give us a cold drink.
“But let all who take refuge in your rejoice; let them ever sing for joy; and spread your protection over them, that whose who love your name may exult in you.”
Psalm 5:11
Psalm 5:11
Our team was humbled by her testimony and perseverance, and we left with a renewed passion to serve Christ. This woman walks nearly 3 hours to get to the church and doesn’t miss any opportunity to share Christ and her new found life in Him with anyone she encounters. She works hard and has a very difficult life, but hearing her share about what Jesus has done for her made everything else seem small. She truly counted everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus her Lord.
We are forever changed having met her, and it was reinforced to us that if you take care of what’s on God’s heart, He’ll take care of what's on yours.
The first day in Nepal has rocked us and we can’t wait to see how God will unfold His plans for us being here. We wish you all were with us and we can’t wait to share the good news from here with you. Christ is building His church!
